About us

Being a member

Here is a series of interviews by Fionn, a journalism student at NUI Galway. The piece captures what it means to be part of the Newpark Community Orchestra.

Repertoire

The orchestra’s repertoire extends from the sixteenth century to the present day, from Vivaldi and Handel through to John Williams, Leonard Cohen and the Beatles, taking in arrangements of traditional Irish songs, Victorian music hall songs and music from stage and screen as well as the concert hall.

Appreciation

We would like to acknowledge the enthusiastic support of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council over the years. As a community orchestra, our involvement in community events within their bailiwick relies on their encouragement, which is exemplary.

We also want to express our appreciation for the marvellous level of welcome and enthusiasm shown to us in nursing homes, hospitals and other centres of care. This is evident in the the constant refrain “When are you coming back?” following our performances.
